Train and shoot long enough and you’ll definitely learn what works and what doesn’t. That’s especially true when it comes to everyday carry. Choosing the right gear that’s both functional and comfortable makes all the difference in the world.

Some of the most important factors to consider when choosing a concealed carry holster are:

  • Trigger coverage. The holster should completely cover the trigger guard to prevent accidental discharges.
  • Retention. The holster should hold the gun securely in place, but not so tightly that it is difficult to draw.
  • Concealability. The holster should be designed to help you conceal the gun as much as possible while still being functional enough to allow for quick access and smooth draws. Ideally we’d like to avoid printing as much as possible.
  • Comfort. This is a big one for me. The holster should be comfortable to wear, even for extended periods of time.
  • Durability. The holster should be made of durable materials that can withstand the wear and tear of everyday use. Let me just say this now, Kydex is the way.

How to chose the best concealed carry position

  • The type of gun you will be carrying. Some holsters are designed for specific types of guns, so it is important to choose one that will fit your gun properly.
  • The position you will be carrying the gun. There are many different ways to carry a concealed gun, so you need to choose a holster that is designed for the position you will be using.
  • Your personal preferences. Some people prefer holsters that are made of leather, while others prefer holsters that are made of Kydex. There is no right or wrong answer, so it is important to choose a holster that you feel comfortable with.

What type of concealed carry holster is right for you?

  • Inside the waistband (IWB) holsters. IWB holsters are the most popular type of concealed carry holster. They are worn inside the waistband of your pants, and they are very concealable.
  • Outside the waistband (OWB) holsters. OWB holsters are worn outside the waistband of your pants. They are not as concealable as IWB holsters, but they are easier to draw from.
  • Appendix carry holsters. Appendix carry holsters are worn in the front of your waistband, just above your appendix. They are very concealable, but they can be difficult to draw from for some people.
  • Shoulder holsters. Shoulder holsters are worn over your shoulder. They are not as concealable as IWB or OWB holsters, but they are very comfortable to wear.

No matter what type of concealed carry holster you choose, it is important to practice drawing and reholstering your gun so that you can do it quickly and smoothly. You should also make sure that you are familiar with the safety features of your holster.

I hope this helps!
